Yesterday I got a phone message from Rich and in response I sent him the
following (slightly edited) email. Since its a good summary pf where things
are, I wanted to posted to the ML for everyone's benefit.

Subject: Got Your Message - Interesting News!

I just got your message, lots of interesting news in there! Sound like you
are busy, busy, busy...

No, I haven't dropped off the face of the earth either. I, too have been
very busy.

Although, I haven't been able to work on FreeRIDE for the last 6 or 7 days,
I do have a basic working model that is a mixture of some code that is
properly architected, and some temporary hacks (clearly identified) that are
meant to be replaced later on. One good thing: in the GUI framework, I have
completely separated the *use* of GUI components from their *rendering*.
Currently I have a FOX rendering plugin, but there could easily be other
rendering plugins. Of course, the databus is as a communications vehicle
between the GUI specification/usage and the GUI rendering.

Here what I still need to do before releasing this to the FreeRIDE
community:

- Replace about three of the more significant of the hacks with the real
code. Right now, the ratio of hacks to real code is too high for the
existing code to serve as an example for other FreeRIDE developers to
follow.

- I need to document the code (RDoc).

- I need to update and augment the overview information on the Wiki.

- I need to get (and start using) the latest FOX and FXScintilla -- I'm
still using the ones you sent me. (BTW, can I just drop in the new
FXScintilla, overwriting the current one and leaving your wrapper code
untouched?)

- I'd really like to get Nishio Mizuho's source browser integrated, too
(because it would be so impressive for a first internal release), but I
think that would introduce too much of a delay and it really can be done as
a second step after I release the code with all of the above completed.
