Hi,

i'm sorry to ask this question here, since it is not related to
freetype, but i ask it here because there are many font experts here,
and i have a chance to get help. :)

ghostscript has a file `wrfont.ps' which produces a loadable font in
`pseudo-pfa' format for currently loaded font.

try e.g. to save the following in a file `test.ps' and run

gsnd -dWRITESYSTEMDICT test.ps

=========================
(unprot.ps) runlibfile
unprot
(wrfont.ps) runlibfile
/Times-Roman findfont setfont
(test.gsf) (w) file writefont
quit
=========================

you will get a file `test.gsf' which contains a pfa font.
(in this example for the Times-Roman font)

but unfortunately, the files created by wrfont.ps are not standard
from the point of view of e.g. adobe type manager (in fact, any
program which interprets type1 fonts but does not include a full
postscript interpreter will unlikely be able to read this font).

does anyone know if it is possible to make standard PFA files for a
currently loaded font?

(i need this to produce type1 fonts from traced bitmaps)

        Best regards, -- Vladimir.
