`Diagonal group' is an ad-hoc term which I've invented -- I don't know
the right word, sorry.  If you write like this (repeatedly from top
right to bottom left):

         /  /  /  /  /
   ...  /  /  /  /  /
       /  /  /  /  /

               /
Then  I call  /  a diagonal group.
             /
