[ft-devel] [GitHub] Mirrors

As of today, FreeType has its own GitHub account [1] -- hurray :)

Its main purpose for now is to prevent others from snatching it away (it
belongs to Werner now). That being said, I will set up a proper avatar image
and a short description that links to https://freetype.org.

Another (immediate) plan for this account (finally connecting this story
with its title) involves setting up mirror repositories of FreeType's
repositories that currently live on Savannah [3, 4]. There are absolutely no
plans to move from Savannah to GitHub, however, having automated mirrors on
GitHub cannot hurt and could even help people to get in touch with the
project.

This is not just an information message, however, there are also two
questions:

(1) Does anyone know, if Savannah allows server-side git hooks? That would
make mirroring the repository to GitHub extremely easy. So far, I only know
that Savannah does not allow access to CVS roots [4].

(2) If server-side hooks are not an option: there are plenty of mirroring
services out there. In addition, such scripts can easily be written by hand.
What are your experiences on this matter?

Thanks for your thoughts + have a great day :)
Armin
