Advice to schools on wireless registration systems - clear guidance on
e-registration patent - following a lengthy, but successful, challenge
to a patent affecting the licensing of wireless pupil attendance
registration systems; clear guidance, based on Becta advice, has now

"With regards to current wireless pupil attendance registration systems,
a school can use any WLAN equipment which is 802.11 standards compliant
regardless of the manufacturer or supplier of the school's MIS without
infringing the FTL Patent. If the school has any doubt that its WLAN
equipment is not standard then advice should be sought from its current
