The OSS Watch[1] open source software advisory service provides unbiased advice and guidance about free and open source software for UK further and higher education. Although funded by the JISC[2] and focusing almost entirely on software in education, many OSS Watch outputs are of more general interest, particularly the our briefings[3].

These documents are covered by the GNU Free Documentation Licence and we are keen for feedback on their content and usefulness. Please send your comments to address@hidden (it's a request tracker queue, so your comments don't get lost).

OSS Watch briefings include:

* 5 essential open source tools for the sysadmin [4]
* Linux Standards Base: what is it and why is it important? [5]
* Dual Licensing: A threat to Open Source Software? [6]
* Who needs the source anyway? [7]
* Top Tips for Selecting Open Source Software [8]
