For getting the fan replaced you could try Manchester Repair Cafe:

Next meeting is 10am-noon today! (11:30am is last repair start)
Oh, well I read this already too late, and even if I'd seen it immediately, I would've had to have reässembled and packed my laptop, got ready, and got to the station in time to buy a ticket for the 09:45 train, and be on the platform for 09:44, about 8 minutes after you sent your email! X-D

that it is the morning before SFD2016 in Manchester:

Thank you. I didn't know that there was a monthly repair café in Manchester. I'll definitely aim to go along to that, not only to have some of my things fixed but also to bring back some repair skills so that I can better help the new Shrewsbury Repair Café, which so far has only had 1 session, is much less frequent, and doesn't yet have ‘schedule continuity’ (the property of the next session being scheduled and known to the participants at least before the end of each session).
. Come to think of it, I'll ask if they've decided on the next date yet, because they said that the 2nd session will probably be in September. Hopefully it'll be early in September so that I can fix my laptop earlier.
Also could try HACMan?

Thanks, that'll definitely be very useful one way or another.
Best regards,
