Ok, I checked this in in my
address@hidden/g-wrap--devo--2.0' branch, along with a
test case.
The ssize_t code looks good, however I wasn't able to build that branch
without applying the patch below, otherwise the build process fails
when trying to find ffi.h (I am using the bundled libffi).
