Are you sure that having workshops _and_ competition on the _same_ day
is a good idea?
As far as I understand the people who will be attending the workshops
would be newbies with respect to whatever the topic of the workshop
is-- GCC/Make/GDB or Python. Expecting them to assimilate something
new, and then start competiting based on what they learnt on one
single day does not look feasible to me.
