Hi Christoph,

I think I've fixed these bugs, quite a few changes from incorrectly
using xmalloc in gm2 - now all done via ggc_alloc.  This should mean
the compiler is slightly faster, uses less memory (and doesn't crash
:-) when the garbage collector is run,
