Follow-up Comment #8, bug #34606 (project gnash):

Well, I don't think I can go any farther with this on my own. I tried running
gdb with debugging symbols installed (aptitude -t squeeze-backports install
gnash-dbg; symbol-file /path/to/gtk-gnash before "run") but the bt output was
the same as without the debugging symbols.

Next I tried what I believe is the process for creating a debian package with
debugging symbols compiled in:

0 # aptitude -R build-dep gnash
0 $ apt-get source gnash
0 $ cd gnash-0.8.10~git20110618/
0 $ DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nostrip,noopt dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -uc -us

Everything was looking good until, about 3 hours later:

make[1]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/gnash-0.8.10~git20110618'
dh_strip --dbg-package=gnash-dbg
# lintian: python-debug-in-wrong-location
mv debian/gnash-dbg/usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/pyshared
mv: cannot stat `debian/gnash-dbg/usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/pyshared': No such
file or directory
make[1]: *** [override_dh_strip] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/gnash-0.8.10~git20110618'
make: *** [binary] Error 2
dpkg-buildpackage: error: fakeroot debian/rules binary gave error exit status

As far as mv goes, there is no lib/ under debian/gnash-dbg/usr/, only a

As for the rest, I did a couple of web searches on the binary Error 2 and the
dpkg-bldpkg exit status 2 error msgs, but didn't come up with anything I could
understand, and I don't really have the time to learn about the whole make
process and debian package building process at the present time.

Finding my way this far took me the better part of a day, so unless someone
can help me figure out why my pkg didn't build, I'm afraid I can't take this
any further on my end.
