Follow-up Comment #1, bug #41521 (project gnash):

It's a compile-time option: DEFAULT_FLASH_*_VERSION and
DEFAULT_FLASH_REV_NUMBER, in gnashconfig.h

There is also a gnashrc directive "flashVersionString" but I think the plugin
does not make use of that, so javascript driven checks will only see the
compile-time option.

It's a pending task to allow the plugin to initialize its view of version by
asking the standalone player about it (which would in turn parse the gnashrc

Unfortunately I hadn't found any ticket with this task, so it only exist in my

How you can help:

 1. File a ticket asking for the plugin to honour the gnashrc setting about
the version string
 2. Provide pointers to flash-version-detection scripts to use as tests
 3. Provide automated tests
 4. Implement the thing

Note that the version string expected to be output by the plugin is slighly
different than the one expected to be available via ActionScript
