The patch makes sense. Actually that function has other bugs we
should inspect, like setting XML.status to weird values like out-of-enum
(invalid) or NaN or some other thing that might be better hanlded
by to_int rather then to_number.
I'd just like to have all each patch in a patch tracker item for
helping not forgetting it.
