Hi, Benjamin,
Thanks a lot for the info!  I did not think of it earlier :)  After stripping, the sizes have been reduced to a small fraction of the original.

strip them.

make install-strip will do this for you, or look at the man page.

The current release of Gnash is 0.8.5
