Are you tried with trunk ? (11883 here)

GUI and testsuite are the two points where final binaries get
built. If libtool works as it should, having the libraries linked
to their dependencies should do. 

Maybe your libtool is broken, in which case you'll need to explicitly
add the libs in the of the executables dir (gui/
in your case).
