The release blog entry here:

says to go here to download "experimental binary packages built by
the gnash team":

Going to and clicking "Get the Code" leads to this page:

which says the current release is 0.8.5. Oops!

Instead I went to "Get the Player", which led to:

I followed the instructions:

> Add one of these to your sources.list file, and then run "apt-get update".
> deb ubuntu main

[I also added an identical deb-src line.]

Running "apt-get update" produced a warning:

W: GPG error: ubuntu Release: The following
signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available:

When I tried "apt-get install gnash", it says:

# apt-get install gnash
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have

The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  gnash: Depends: gnash-common (= 0.8.7~bzr.trunk11943) but 0.8.5-0ubuntu1 is
to be installed
Depends: libboost-date-time1.40.0 (>= 1.40.0-1) but it is not
Depends: libboost-thread1.40.0 (>= 1.40.0-1) but it is not installable
Depends: libstdc++6 (>= 4.4.0) but 4.3.3-5ubuntu4 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

Trying to install gnash-common repeats the three other unsatisfied

It was a nice try to specify "ubuntu" rather than "jaunty", but unfortunately
our built packages seem to be specific to Ubuntu Karmic rather than generic
to multiple Ubuntu releases.
