It won't. Gnash project abandoned AVM2 implementation time ago.
Lightspark does that.
Status of implementations is:
AVM1 - Gnash       80-90% [hard being more precise]
AVM2 - Lightspark    ~22%

To play all flash stuff around, you need both, they are complementary.

Lightspark is younger but actively developed, whereas Gnash is in
maintenance mode, no new features except IPv6 support introduced few
weeks ago and OpenGLES2 renderer implementation in progress as GSoC project.

If you can't support these projects by writing code, file bugs about
broken sites and help fixing them.
