I am unable to reproduce this. I can think of one possible cause for the
problems you are seeing:
You stated in the PR:
"The file /opt/gnats/etc/gnats/database states
default:Bug database:/opt/gnats/com/gnatsdb"
The file should be named "databases", not "database". The install process
leaves a template "databases" file in the etc directory, and if you created
a file "database", the original template would be the one used. The
template file contains the /usr/local/com/gnatsdb file, and that would
cause exactly the problem you are seeing.
Your feedback on this would be appreciated.
