One benefit of the Ubuntu LTS releases is that Ubuntu promices there'll
be an upgrade path. We will have to check some things seperately i
expect (since we remove some stuff), but i dont see why it wont work (in
principle).

i assume you mean GNU GPL v2 -> GNU GPL v3
