Log message:
        do not count empty entries when driver returns GN_ERR_NONE;
        
        when "end" keyword is specified do not read past the last location 
according to GN_OP_GetMemoryStatus (this only avoids reading one location, the 
first that would have returned GN_ERR_INVALIDLOCATION, but it is a cheap 
optimization);
        
        num_entries depends on start_entry only if all locations below 
start_entry are full, but we can't know if they are full since we don't read 
them, so remove this optimization for now;
