Xie,

This is what I use to connect to 5110/6110 straight out of AVR microcontroller using FBUS.
It has been working for 6 months, with no damage to the Nokia phone.
Hope the image comes thru.

I assume that you have an interface between the Nokia 5110 and your computer
com port. This will contain a Max 232 level shifter chip plus a few zenners
and diodes and a 7805 regulater.  I built the fbus interface from a drawing
off the Net, but you could buy one. The interface has an RB9female at one
end and a Nokia 5110 plug on the other end. The idea is for your project to
offer the same electrical conditions to the interface as your computer com
port does. On the enclosure (the box) for your project fit a DB9male socket
(just like the computer port). From your project circuit board take a line
from the GND to pin 5 of the DB9male. Now identify unregulated   12 volts DC
(roughly) on your project and run a line to pin 4 of the DB9male. Identify
your project's Rx line (on the 68HC11 this is port D bit 0) and run it to
pin 3 of the DB9male. Identify your project's Tx line (on the 68HC11 this is
portD bit 1) and run it to pin 2 of the DB9male. Leave all the other DB9male
lines unconnected. (You could run DB9male pin 6 to -12 volts on your project
if you have -12 volts, but it is not essential)

Best wishes

Hi,Mike and Phil and all the kind friends,

I am working on the MCU <-> Nokia handphone too. I plan to using MC51 and Nokia 8210/6210. The cable is just FBUS TX,FBUS RX,FBUS GND. THe C51's working voltage is 3.0V. Can the cable working? how about your connection?

Regards.
