This patch is already included in the 0.4.3 but in somehow different way.
You didn't show your config, but I assume you used "connection = serial".
As it is stated in the sample gnokiirc and README-6510 you should use
"connection = dlr3p"

Not likely. With "connection = serial" it should work every second time.
