It seems there are two possible connection method:
* AFW-3 adapter provides a normal AT compatible interface
* AFW-1 with a DAU-4F cable (this case) provides a binary protocol

Maybe this is the reason why model = AT doesn't work. Look into the
FAQ (in the tarball) and follow the answer of the "My phone is not
mentioned as supported by gnokii" question. I think one of the
older drivers (nk3110, nk6100) may support it. Create a debug
output. If the phone responds to a command there will be a good
chance to make it working.
