this might be the case we were discussing days ago where SMS in UCS2
are converted with iconv() to the locale encoding, while those in GSM
default alphabet are always converted to ISO-8859-something with a
libgnokii function

Guido: save to disk whith gnokii --getsms ... >sms.txt a single SMS
that you can't read properly and see what the file command says about
the encoding: file sms.txt
