No, they are upset that the activity of selling this hardware which
includes and depends on multiple proprietary programs is directly
associated with the OS by way of being on the same website. If the OS
just had its own website, styled differently from the website selling
the laptops to ensure that the separation is thorough, I don't think
anyone would have an objection.

I personally agree with that objection. As it is, an endorsement of
PureOS is going to look like an endorsement of Purism in general, i.e.
an implicit endorsement of the Librem laptops. This is very different
from Trisquel's Think Penguin ad, where it's clear that Trisquel and
Think Penguin are two distinct activities and only the former has been
generally endorsed by the FSF.
