Hyperbola does not ship malware, anti-features, or anti-privacy packages. Hyperbola does not currently include any of Chromium due to risks of privacy/security violations for users.

Hyperbola strives to ensure high security standards as per its [1]packaging guidelines. This includes using HTTPS whenever possible, secure hashing algorithms, and privacy patches. Today Hyperbola is using a fork of Firefox (Iceweasel) re-branded by Debian project. Iceweasel is based on Firefox source code with some minor modification such as using the Free Add-ons repository from [2]FSF Directory and nonfree stuff removed. Hyperbola founders have decided to not support Firefox Quantum versions based because theses are using parts of [3]Chromium in order to proceed with Quantum integration and the level of transparency and the lack of documentation don't meet Hyperbola Social Contract. Future versions of Iceweasel will be based on Basilisk which is a fork of Firefox 52 (without Quantum) with security features of Firefox 60. Recent news from Mozilla to add [4]sponsored content is reinforcing this decision.
