So what would happen then if one were to give credit to GNU in a
place different from the name, and still use "Linux" for the name?

And that's the truly important thing.

So then it seems the name *itself* does not matter so much as the
people being educated about GNU and GNU getting credit _somewhere_.

Is this right?
