A vector drawing program would be better for manipulating material that
was already in the file or for drawing lines, ties, new symbols, etc.,
but please consider whether the chosen tool can save as .ps, because
that would afford an opportunity to also insert scanned images (or other
bitmaps) thus increasing the user's options even more. :-)

I'm *not* asking for the vector program to save to gimp format. ;-)
