On bigger computers and compilers one can assume that a field like pic s9(7)v99 comp-3 will occupy 5 bytes, in other words the number of digits plus one for the sign, rounded up to an even number and divided by 2 will give the bytes required. Is this true however of OC?
Yes.
And what about comp fields, say pic s9(3) comp?
That depends on the "-std=" option. Look at config/default.conf and search for binary-size There is a description of allocations. Then check if a particular xxx.conf overrides the default. Roger
