[gnugo-devel] enable dfa

Working with the version of two days ago, before Gunnar's patch gunnar_1_14.7,
I ran the regressions with and without configure --enable-dfa.  To my
surprise, the results were identical. These are the same as the results in
regression/BREAKAGE. Recompilation was immediate (as Teun predicted,
see http://mail.gnu.org/pipermail/gnugo-devel/2001-November/000424.html
and other messages in that thread).

It is unexpected for the results to be identical because the dfa version has
never given identical results to the version without dfa. According to Teun's
description of what his three patches do, this should still be the case.

I backed out the three patches (teun_1_14.[234]) and ran the regressions 
again. After backing out the three patches, with --enable-dfa I get differing
results for the regressions. Compiling WITHOUT --enable-dfa probably
gives the same results as in BREAKAGE. (At least I've confirmed this
for owl.tst and I have no doubt it is true in general.)

However (after backing out the three patches) compiling with --enable-dfa
gives different results, listed below.

It looks to me as if Teun's patches may not do what he says they
do. Currently as far as I can see configure doesn't do very much with
the option --enable-dfa and I'm uncertain whether it does anything
at all.
