Is it true that Handtalk can still beat most computer go programs? As anyone matched Handtalk against a recent GNU Go?

Handtalk did not use search, only static evaluation, if I understand correctly [1]. Of its successors, Wulu, uses search and a larger pattern database [2], and Goemate "management of patterns and enlargement of knowledge" [3]. This may not be very different from the approach taken in GNU Go.
