I have checked a few losing cases and found hardly any overplay of gnugo
3.4 to be punished. However, I have an impression that gnugo 3.5.4
overvalued area invasion, especially when it is also gote. In one case
gnugo 3.5.4 did many moves of intrusion, ignored own safty and finnaly
the group was dead. In another case gnugo 3.5.4 intruded an area of less
than 10 points, while letting gnugo 3.4 save a group of more than 10
points from simple disconnection.

Of course I could see many mistakes of both versions during the games.
One could also see clearly that both have a less favorate chance of
winning when play white. As I suggested earlier I still think the
begining phase of the game need a lot of improvements and gnugo has to
know better where is big. My own opinion is also to restrict gnugo to
make center territory in gote, unless that territory is overwelmingly
big (difficult to estimate).
