It would be good, but I doubt there is any way of reviving it apart from
writing it from scratch.  For a good deal of time I didn't (try to) do
it because I was waiting for the potential restructuring of optics code,
but now I'm busy with other projects.  Still, if you or somebody else is
willing to give it a try, I will try to recall the ideas I had and maybe
even help with some coding.
