The reason being that the GNUmed database carries an
assertion that no two patient with identical

        (dob, firstname, lastname)

may exist (with respect to neither active, nor secondary
names), _unless_ they are differentiated by a non-identical
comment on the identity (that is, not on the name itself).

For what that's worth :-)
