Nope. Running shell scripts with the python interpreter is no
good.

No. See above.

That is actually the right fix. But that fix isn't needed
anymore. We provide a gm-from-cvs-macosx.sh which already
contains to right thing. Use that on Mac.
change to:
cd gnumed/client/
type:
./gm-from-cvs-macosx.sh
