Below is an output from the oscar pathnet hl7 parser on a part of
Richard's test hl7 message.
This is a good sign.
I think work should be done on mapping to and fro to the gnumed
measurements schema
from such V2.3 messages.
MSH.sending_facility test_org.fk_org
MSH.sending_application test_org.internal_name
I agree this is not right: several different path. labs may use the same
software to send results.
However MSH.sending_application is useful for figuring out which HL7 dialect is
being used.
value_type:FT ? FT - full text? NM - numerical
FT= formatted text: there are some simple HL7 markup tags like /.br/ for
newline, I think one for
tabs, one for bold text, etc.
observation_identifier:2000-8 Sodium LN
This is actually "2000-8^Sodium^LN", a field with 3 components,
LN is LOINC, 2000-8 is the code which can then be used to match
to test_type.code.
