It is a tremendous help that you are looking into this
Firstly, Mirth uses a java technology called Mule to do its
asynchronous queuing and sending/receiving of messages. Mule is a
complete ESB and more. I am spending most of my time ramping up on
Mule and how it is used in Mirth.
I have asked the Webreach people for more information.
Another Dave on the list did already recognize that Mirth builds on
Mule, and was himself wondering to what extent Mirth adds enough
value to Mule to be worth the added overhead. I think it is possible
-- and therefore worth ascertaining -- to what extent Mirth more
serves the needs of those who would build a business case on top of
something like Mule (not that there is anything wrong with this),
than would serve the users.
