you are right  :-(

This would mean the restore restored an already-fixed database (which in itself 
is good) but
that it still does not work ?

Can someone please confirm on their machines whether or not setting the 
database language
at client startup does or does not work with gnumed_v9 and 0.3.5 client on PG 
8.3 ?
It certainly works on mine.
