Well, it is not normal and a bad thing since it should not happen.  I 
currently suspect that we have some architecture bug (i.e.64-bit vs. 32-bit) 
which prevents certain machines from communicating properly.  It would be 
good if people would report their machine configuration, their host ID and 
the host ID of other peers with which they get checksum errors to Mantis.  
That would help me narrow down the cause...
