Quarterly Report, GNUstep Project Mar 31, 2005 Summary ======== The GNUstep Project decided to start accepting donations as of November, 2004 in order to finance some parts of out project that could not be adequately addressed by volunteers. Current projects that require funds are: (A) A new icon set that is more modern, yet still retains the simple, quality feel of the original NeXT look. (B) Buying or renting a server farm for testing GNUstep on various platforms Progress on both these projects is slower than expected, but this is mostly due to time limitations. We believe we have or will have adequate funds for these projects. Overall, GNUstep is growing steadily and has recently gained quite a few new users. This is partially due to recent press (slashdot.org, etc) and our presence at the FOSDEM conference in Belgium. GNUstep has also released a new package compilation, called GNUstep Startup, which makes it easier to install the core GNUstep system, as well as a complete Windows installer for 'one-click' installation of GNUstep onto Windows machines. Our focus for the next quarter will be on improved packaging, i.e. getting the system to compile and run flawlessly on a target set of platforms, despite variations in the underlying system Details ====== As of the end of the quarter, the GNUstep project has spent the following funds (all amounts in USD): (A) Icon project (paid to ik at jasperhauser.nl): $150 The current balance on the Icon project is $250, which will be paid when the icons are complete (time frame unknown at this point).
