I'm currently 2H 45M into this random data crap of a write and am worried about the effects of yanking the card out now, as bad as what I am doing is not sure if yanking the card is gonna be an asset or a determent....at this point......50/50....?

So would the same go for this Gary....?

dd if=/dev/urandom | pv | sudo dd of=/dev/sdb bs=1M
Much worse.

Some SD cards and SSD's detect all zeros and just do a trim. Writing
random data will force a write, and wear out your card.

If you want worn out SD cards, I have a large pile to share.

I have no idea what pv is, what is does, or why in the pipe. If you
want to watch progress, just add "status=progress" to the dd.

"sudo" is evil.

Alsmost all SD cards and SSD prefer bs=4M.
