I'm unaware of any currently undocumented ABI/API changes? I am
not.

Always. Every time. New variables have been added, a few have changed
names. Programs like ubxtool and xgps have been expanded, requiring
changes. Gtk has changed, requiring that gpsd change in response.

As always, documented in the git log, and at the top of the gpsd.h and
gps.h files. The important ones will be highlighte in the NEWS file
before release.
