I see that gmail garbled white space in quite a few places.​  Here is
the same uncorrupted patch as an attachment.

It seems pretty complete to me, but give me any feedback on omissions
or changes you might prefer.  The one make syntax-check failure is
about caps in error messages, but my caps are only to refer to the
environment variable - that seems a valid exception to the rule to me.
