gbranden pushed a commit to branch master
in repository groff.

commit 4bb0a7505af182fa8c2732ea63724b9cb6057f93

    groff_man_style(7): Delete material.

The italic correction workaround documented here was rendered
superfluous by commit e58e32ea308ac5d344b3c79b20d7f4ab2456377b, 18 May.

The font alternation macros now reliably supply italic correction escape
sequences such that the user will never have to do so.

One more reason to leave the old \f-aith and adopt a new \c-reed. ;-)
