The real ideal is to use the designed small-caps from an expert set
font. Resizing caps like the blue book says tends to look terrible.
Trouble is:
- few fonts have proper small caps variants (Adobe Garamond and Gill
Sans are two
that spring to mind. Computer Modern does too, but using a TeX font with
groff would be excessively perverse.)
- expert sets tend to be expensive.
