For completeness, I've added the HBI font to devdvi. This is

This reminds me of question I've had lingering in the back of my mind for some time now. Once upon a time, I tried to convert a dvi file generated with devdvi to PDF by either using dvips->PDF creation program (either GhostScript 7.0x's ps2pdf, Jaws PDF Creator 2.1) or directly with dvipdfm using the BlueSky Type 1 fonts and in each case, the output was botched badly. All text appeared as if the char boxes had no height, the size of a flea. The problem did not appear if I used dvips defaults, using PK bitmaps.

Is this a bug or "by design"?
