Just a data point: there's a dedicated "grout" command for this purpose.
I checked, and DWB's and Heirloom's dpost(1) commands don't support it,
so I guess it's a GNUism.
Anyway, the command is 'x u'.
At present, it looks to me like only grotty(1) implements it, but it's
recognized by the common driver library, too.
