i've tried the guile-core-1.8-20060325 snapshot

normal build errors out here:

./guile-snarf -o filesys.x
-I/usr/local/include -O2 -pipe -Wformat -Wbounded -Wall
-Wmissing-prototypes -Werror
"dirfd" redefined

then I removed -Werror, and it proceeds but fails with the following:
