Sadly it didn't work for me.
Commit 44e06f9cf39e50f91ba61f3e66981b8d10ad545c, linux 5.0.5.
The kernel boots until those 2 messages:

[drm amdgpu kernel modesetting enabled
fb0: switching to amdgpudrmfb from EFI VGA
--8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---

From there it hangs, Alt-f2 does not do anything.
Only Ctrl-Alt-Del works :/
