in the meantime Maxim updated pytest to the latest version, but then numpy
fails on i686 *and* x86_64, because its three inputs
  /gnu/store/3wq4gfh21kfgda6gv6wnp015jhd8nnf2-python-pytest-xdist-2.5.0.drv
  /gnu/store/xc3b4yw9m69lgn9i82sy7l5cd6w4yvaj-python-execnet-1.9.0.drv
  /gnu/store/xp6lkn92py94mb2dxig25n1l36j87yp9-python-pytest-forked-1.6.0.drv
all fail...

I will try to revert the commit that updates pytest and apply yours instead
to see if this is the safer route.
